Statement:
My load was 15’ 6” wide. I had two escorts with me. One in front and one in the rear.
I was heading north on US-93 in Nevada. I was going up hill and only doing about 15 to 20 mph. I had a guardrail that was about 1 foot off of the road and had my load approximately 6 inches from it. I was over as far as I could possibly get. I was permitted to go this way. I had all of my strobe lights going as did both of my escorts. We all had flags and oversized load signs also.
As I neared to top of the hill (near mm 83 or 84) a semi truck came around the curve followed closely by a pick up truck. The semi truck got over to get around me. The pick up truck did not move over or swerve. The pick up truck hit the boat with his mirror.
The driver of the pick up did not stop. I pulled over into a wide spot right after it happened. My front pilot car chased after the pick up and found him. He then followed the pick up back to us.
I had my wife go with my rear pilot car to get cell coverage and call the police.
